Kids Cuts opened on State Street in 1999 with one idea: a haircut for a child should be its own kind of place, not a grown-up salon with a booster seat.

Owner and stylist Carol Spears has proudly run the salon since 2004. Parents come back year after year for her gentle touch — the quiet voice, the unhurried pace, the patience for a wiggly two-year-old who isn't sure about the clippers yet.

Her whole approach is built around making a haircut something a child looks forward to. Fun, calm, and finished with a smile.

The Kids Cuts experience

Built for kids, top to bottom.

Everything here is set up for small people. There's plenty to look at and plenty to do, so waiting for your turn is half the fun.

The fish tank

A big freshwater aquarium right in the middle of the room. It has held more toddlers' attention than any tablet ever has.

The chalk art wall

A full-size chalkboard with buckets of chalk. Draw something before your cut and leave it up for the next kid.

Toys, books & a movie on

Picture books, a play table, ride-on toys and something friendly on the TV keep little ones comfortable while they wait.

The crane ceiling

Thousands of folded paper cranes overhead in every color. Kids spot new ones every visit — and so do their parents.
